The SCASD Board of Directors has scheduled a special “work session” to discuss the most recent PVAAS and PSSA scores. This meeting will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 11, in the Board Room at 131 W. Nittany Ave. The meeting is open to the public and there will be time allowed for public comment.
As readers of the PQME blog know, the PSSA math scores for SCASD have been falling relative to the rest of the state, while reading scores have not. Particularly concerning is that SCASD compares poorly to those districts of similar size and socioeconomic status that the Board frequently uses for purposes of comparison. These test results are hard for the Board to ignore, even for those members who voted for the purchase of “Investigations”, so this is an especially critical meeting with respect to the future of the math curriculum.
